About Us

Since 1952, through the U.S. State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program, more than 105,000 visitors have been hosted in the Bay Area for professional programs. Over 150 current and former heads of state and more than 1,000 cabinet officials have participated in professional exchange and citizen diplomacy in San Francisco and across the nation. IIE's administration of this acclaimed program in the San Francisco Bay Area - along with our Home Hospitality, “Global Voices” Educational Program, and our informal social events - provides an integrated set of high quality experiences for visiting international leaders and thousands of Bay Area citizens.

The IIE builds global understanding and respect between the people of other nations and the United States by providing opportunities for professional, educational, and cultural engagements between select foreign visitors, business people, students and professionals in the Bay Area.

  • We arrange one-on-one professional, cultural and educational meetings for current and emerging world leaders with Bay Area citizens, fostering long-lasting relationships between individuals, businesses, governments and non-profit organizations.
  • We sponsor visits to the offices of thousands of participating businesses and community leaders annually.
